Coronavirus (COVID-19)

An Important Update from our President & CEO

4/14/2020 - It is with deep sadness that I report two individuals we support through AccessPoint RI’s residential services have passed away related to COVID-19. An individual who had been taken to the hospital passed away on April 1st related to COVID-19 and underlying health conditions. Additionally, last night we received the sad news that another individual who was in the hospital with COVID-19 has passed away. AccessPoint sought immediate medical advice for these individuals when the symptoms had first emerged and followed all medical recommendations, as well as safeguards recommended by the RI Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control. Our thoughts are with these individuals’ families and we at AccessPoint are grieving this loss.

Currently, there are thirteen positive confirmed cases of coronavirus within AccessPoint’s adult residential services. All are receiving the recommended care and all families have been notified. These individuals are all continually in our thoughts and we are hoping for everyone’s full recovery.

We are doing everything we can to contain the virus. Any individuals who may have had exposure are being tested and their families have been contacted. Any individuals who require isolation are living in separated accommodations. Involved staff members have been instructed to be tested. We have notified the RI Department of Health and the RI Department of Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals and are following their directives.

The safety of everyone in our AccessPoint community remains our highest priority. As we have from the outset, AccessPoint continues to monitor and follow all safeguards recommended by the RI Department of Health, the CDC and our regulatory agencies.
